Well look at me

Yep got a email today from someone at work 'fancy seeing you in the Telegraph'...
Go click on the link and see if you can spot me Sunday Telegraph Stella magazine Page 35. Go the the Galleries section "How Old are these Women'

I look great... scratch that, I look bloody great for my age!!! See a lifetime of looking after my skin, no sunbathing, no smoking and spending the cash on the lotions and potions have paid off. Excuse the non-smiling me though, I think I did smile for a couple of shots but they decided to choose this one. I had to do my own hair and make up at the photo shoot and used the following products:

Base
Bourjois Mineral Matte Mousse Foundation Shade 85
Laura Mercier Undercover - Secret Camouflage and secret concealer and loose setting powder
Blush
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Rose
Lips
Clinique Glosswear in Raspberry Jam (no longer available in store, just as well I stocked up on 5 of these)
Eyes
Clinique Cream Shaper Eye Liner in Black Diamond
Dior Mascara Spectacular Volume Intense Black

White shirt from Benetton

With hindsight I wished I had worn more make-up as the strong natural daylight has left me looking more pale than I am.

I showed my seven year old nephew the article, he kept asking me why my photo was in the magazine. I told him I was famous...he looked at me and said 'No You're not, you're my aunt'. Ah bless him for putting me back into place. Now excuse me while I deflate my head.

Au Naturale

I just luuurve being based in W1 so convenient for little shopping jaunts; I needed to stock up on a few beauty essentials and in less than 25 minutes was able to snap up Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser and Skin Repair Light Moisturiser. The cleanser is a firm favorite of mine, I switch beauty brands all the time but this is one I turn to time and time again. It smells amazing and you can really see how much make-up/dirt comes off your face and onto the muslin cloths. The moisturiser is a lighter version of one I had previously used. With warmer weather ahead (I hope) its would help replenish my skin without feeling too weighty and help re-balance my complexion over-night rather than use a heavy night cream.

From Chanel's Summer 2011 collection, I bought Morning Rose 557 Nail varnish. Its a delightful warm rosy pink with gold glitter particles in it. Its perfect for Summer toes. A quick manicure at my desk of 2 coats had left an even coverage but you could get away with one coat for a more sheer finish

I did try the Mimosa (yellow) but frankly it aged my hands dramatically and was not for me! You would need to apply 3 coats to get an opaque colour and frankly who has time to do that?

As John Lewis was having a 10% off day I thought it would be prudent to re-stock on Rouge Coco Lipstick in Paris 22. £19.80 may sound a lot for a little tube of colour but it lasts for ages, gives my face the right pop of colour to make it look finished (as worn wonderfully by Sandra Bullock at the Oscars in 2010. Even with unwashed hair and being casually attired for Friday I had a done and polished looking face. No need for blush, just apply onto lips and you are ready to face the day.

PS a little note to say if you want to see 'me', I will be in the Sunday Telegraph Stella Magazine  in a Beauty Feature. Guess which one I am - yep Mrs Smug (Look how youthful I am - I don't sunbathe, drink or smoke but use a tonne of lotions and potions)

More sample sales - too good to be true

Crazy weather today, I ruined 4 pairs of shoes today during the torrential down pours - yes I keep a lot of shoes at the office..... The pavements of W1 are seriously full of deep puddles...me not happy. Maybe I should have a pair of Hunter wellies on standby by my desk.

I could console myself by checking out the Browns Secret Pop Sale at their warehouse near Bond Street. I love the fact the word was spread by Twitter and I was able to get down there and have a good rummage.

Today and Friday is their shoe sale. Earlier on Tuesday I checked out the rails and got a lovely silk georgette dress with a splashy colourful eyelash print by their Browns Focus label. Its going to be perfect for summer (if that ever materialises).
Another sale on is the Orla Kiely Past Season Sale of Ready-To-Wear, Bags and Accessories. If you need more colour in your wardrobe I would highly recommend going to this sale.

In these cash constrained times, its nice to know you can pick up a bargain without having to splash too much dosh to get your hand on some new quality goodies. Here are a few Sample Sales happening in London town this month. I'll be heading to the Reiss one just cause I'm a glutton for punishment for long queues, over heated rooms, lack of privacy to try on clothes and oh yeah the general bun fight of it all.
