Oooh Matt Cuddles
I should have posted about this on Monday but other event over took *slight hangover* - at lunchtime I was invited to go over to The May Fair Hotel for a festive lunch and view some of the rooms for future events (read into that a big fat jolly for us girls). It was really nice to get out of the office and see everyone for a good catch up and to be treated to a lovely Christmas meal . They served Prosecco Brut Fantinel NV which I thought was even lovelier than champagne, followed by smoked salmon, Christmas Turkey with all the trimming and a mini-Christmas pudding covered in custard with sprinkles of freeze dried strawberries. After much merriment of pulling crackers and donning the paper hats and posing for the obligatory cheesy photos.
We gathered ourselves for a tour of the premises.,,, and who do we run into in the lobby....Matt Cardle or Matt Cuddles to my fellow tweeters from X-Factor. He was having a chin wag with Simon Webbe (ex-Blue singer) and as we were ushered into the lift I had to really crane my head to get a good old stare (for research purposes/not in a stalker way!) Ah it made my day to see him after spending most weekends watching X-Factor. He was wearing a green parka coat (it was a bitterly cold day) but no hat. Paps were outside, all waiting for him (one of my colleagues cadged a light for her fag from one) and there were a smattering of dolled up young girls hanging about (WAGS/dancers?) with too many hair extensions and despite the weather peep toe high heeled boots; although they were lined in shearling....French pedicure on show EEEEEwwwwgggghhhhh - sorry my pet hate is long toe nails.
We got a grand tour of the cinema room, several suites including the ones used for the filming of The Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Got to hear how lovely Matt Damon is who always stays here when in London with his family and dines with the staff. The worse guest was believe it or not was Louis Walsh! As we were shown around before entering each room there was a lot of ringing the door bell before, to make sure no guests had checked in. On one occasion on such a tour - a very surprised event manager was greeted by a naked footballer. He was not embarrassed but she was - didn't help he was happy to stand naked and not cover himself up. She exited swiftly, closing the door and her two clients were quite amused by it.
