Twin Tuesday

Thing 2 the other day came up to me making noises and was quite insistent he hold my hands and lead me somewhere (still not walking but cruising). I followed as he slap dash stumbled towards the nappy station and then proceeded to pull the change mat onto the floor and laid down - in short he wanted me to change his nappy. Wow at over 14 months corrected, he more or less 'told' me he had done a wee and wanted to be cleaned up and dry again. After reading countless books on potty training I had always assumed boys started later. So dare I start him off first before his older brother? Am I being to hopeful or desperate to stop filling landfill sites with my polluting twins??

I started potty training Curly Haired Beauty at 16 months with Stage 1 (guilty, I read Gina Ford's Potty Training in 1 week) and at that age she was really compliant and willing to please, before the terrible two's struck. When the twins arrived early and we were all home from hospital - she decided to regress and was back into nappies and insisted on lying down with her legs in the air yelling at me to change her. Last summer was not fun - 3 sets of nappies; which coincided with the local council once a fortnight rubbish collection instead of once a week. Pooohhhyyy it was a stinky round these parts.

Wish Thing 1 was more like his brother - I should re-name him  Toddler Wild Thing. Whenever I tell him its time for a nappy change and show him his nice new clean nappy, he runs away and tries to squeeze himself in the smallest of spots. He just loves to grin and giggle and thinks its a lovely chasing game or he make himself go all floppy so you can't pick him up from under the arms. Once you have got him down on the mat (a quick judo sweep under the legs) he will twist away before you can get the dirty nappy off. He will quite happily sit in his own filth, squashing it into his bum some more rather than let you try and clean him up. Currently Toddler Wild Thing needs a haircut as he is looking very much like Michael McIntyre . His thick shiny bouncy hair-do is starting to look quite bowl like and I don't want my mum to get her scissors out and give him a hair-don't!

Thing 2's curls have also grown back and is also looking very bouffant which is making it too hard for Toddle Wild Thing to resist from pulling.

They are starting to play more 'nicely' together and join in with songs I sing - a favorite is Row, row, row your boat with a few made up verses and sound effects. Its always lovely when I hear them sing back the words (well sounds like words) makes me really appreciate these times I have with them as youngsters before they up-root, leave home and head for the pub! Well their dad is from the North of England....It finally feels like the hardship fog of motherhood with twin babies is disappearing and I can start to enjoy them as little people. There will always be worries along the way when they get sick (I am such a regular at my A&E, red books, snacks and lots of wipes/nappies). My previous deep held fears have now passed - Toddler Wild Thing does not have cerebral palsy (his physio said walking on tip toes was due to his keenness to be on the move). Thing 2 does not have autism; he babbles conversationally, cries when he is unhappy or been hurt and comes up for cuddles with mummy. He was always much more reserved, quieter compared to his older brother but has now come of his shadow. Next month I turn 39 and rather than feel the dread of being one step closer to 40 I feel a real sense of achievement of being a mother to three happy kids.

RIP Catherine Walker

Its so very sad to hear another fashion designer has passed away this year. Catherine Walker who was battling with cancer, died last week. She will always be to me one of those rare female designers (up there with Donna Karen and Coco Chanel) who knew how to dress women to make them look confident, chic and effortlessly stylish.

Here are a few of her iconic dresses worn by one of her favorite customers Princess Diana. The 'Elvis Bolero' at the time got such tremendous press coverage (more than the Berlin wall coming down) - the idea evolved after  Princess Diana insisted she needed something practical, that would not slip off (like a stole/shawl would), so she could shake hands, hold flowers and provide some coverage (she didn't like revealing her ample bust too much, this was when she was still married to HRH Prince Charles).
Then after the divorce, still chic but sexy

LFW Review - Jasper Garvida SS11

Upstairs toilet un-blocked, Downstairs hoovered, Laundry on, breakfast things nearly all washed up, thing 1 and thing 2 napping & curly haired beauty finally out the door for a play date with her cousins.......don't you just love real life??? Strangely I get more things done around the house when D is out and I am left to look after the 3 tots.

Now for the GLAMOUR BIT. Last Monday I was invited to see Jasper Garvida's SS10 collection along with a few other bloggers and it was lovely to say hello to Amanda from Fortynotout and Nova from Cherished by Me . We were VIP guests of Forever Better, who are Miele sponsors of Jasper's show and I felt really privileged to be asked along . The evening started with a champagne cocktail with Push PR at a nearby bar and then a short walk to the very imposing Freemasons building.  Now the last fashion show I ever went to, was back in 2007 when I used to work in that biz and my friend A handled the PR for Ronit Zilkha. Just before the designer lost her trading name to the financiers. It happens to the biggest and brightest of names and its so heart warming to hear  Roland Mouret is able to designed under his own name again rather than the RM label.

Please forgive my seriously bad camera work, I only had my mobile on me - unlike the more professionally organised Amanda/ Nova who took some great shots (go check their blogs for better photos).
The audience waiting for the show to start, which was only 20 minutes late. Note to self remember it gets very hot  sat by the catwalk, carry less bags as there are hardly no room for your coat, let alone your legs.
This strapless lilac dress had the most amazing pleated bodice with silver crystal bead details (which of course you can't see!). The collection was called Belle and was very pretty, peaches, lilacs, organza loop detailing, sheer layers.
Here is the goody bag a fake bag on a bag! Love the idea! So thank you again to Roxy and Emma for asking me along. Sorry its not a better review but the home life reality with the croupy babe, pouring Calpol into everyone's gullet have overtaken me.

Drum roll please and the winner is

Hello, please excuse the lateness of this post - Curly Haired Beauty has done another lovely assisting job and has picked at random the winner from Sunday's giveaway with CSN Stores. So Nic at The War Paint Guru you are our lucky winner. Eileen from CSN will be in touch by email to give you the voucher code to spend as you wish at the on-line stores. Thank you again to everyone who responded to the giveaway.

Le Creuset Stoneware Deep Heart Dish with Lid - 91000625
Things have been a little hectic chez twosp - after a lovely high on Monday evening watching the Jasper Garvida show during London Fashion Week (champagne cocktail, second row seat, such a pretty collection, lovely goody bag) - it was  a big bump to reality when I got home and Thing 2 was a very poorly chap. A trip to A&E and then a looong night watching him struggle to breathe meant another trip to A&E and got him admitted around 7am yesterday morning. It turned out to be a nasty case of croup and the wonderful medical staff sorted him right out. We got discharged last night and I haven't had anytime to write up anything. So I will have to put that right once I get some sleep etc. Thing 2 is now a little brighter and as croup is caused by a virus no doubt Thing 1 will catch it and I will be heading back to hospital this weekend..... I do love this boomerang illness effect.

It feels like I haven't slept for 48 hours and yet here I am still blogging and reading other blogs! So sorry if I don't get round to commenting I am sooooo tired, my eye bags have bags underneath them.

Happy Blogging Birthday

This blog is two years old today! Who would have thought anyone out there would be interested in reading about my musing, shopping habits and the antics of curly haired beauty along with thing 1 and thing 2. So I thank you all and would like to treat you to some birthday cake.

Mmmm do you think this cupcake is a little too big??? Nah!, scoff, scoff oops sorry ate all of that none left to share....

I haven't been able to get myself onto the Hermes waiting list, so this Birkin style cake will have to do. Quick hurry up and take a bite before I chomp on this one too.

This pretty Hello Kitty cake is from the Curly Haired Beauty. One of the many first words she used to be able to say before she even turned one was 'Kitty'. Precocious darling and how we wish she would sometimes just not talk as much, just for a bit, really she talks a lot, how does one stop a child from talking too much? D points out she takes after me.....
And these are from Thing 1 and Thing 2 (egg-free) - who have given me many heart-stopping moments, heartache and unhappiness after their traumatic early arrival. They have really come along and are wonderful cheeky boys, full of energy, curiosity bordering on fearlessness.
And the best present ever for my blog birthday - I finally got the Anya Hindmarch Barbour Minx Coat - its been a long time coming (since August) and after two wait's, on the waiting list, and a couple of calls with the lovely Megan, one will be on its way to me. Yippee!   I just know it will be perfect for the current freaky Autumn weather. Rain/Sun/grey what gives?

Many Happy Returns x teawithonesugarplease

PS I'll be doing another blog giveaway soon, so if you fancy sprucing up your home with some new accessories or need something vital to impress at the next dinner party you host, stay tuned to this blog. - Cheers

London Calling

Phew its been a bit busy at the office, its a hive of activity so I haven't had much time to devote to blogging and yikes so many events going on in London to cover. London Fashion Week will soon be upon us and I have been kindly invited to the Jasper Garvinda show by Forever Better for Miele, who are sponsoring him. I am very chuffed to be asked along as I know how sought after these tickets are. I'll be able to access the VIP area and media room; so hope to blog live and let you know what Jasper has created for SS10. Cheers Roxy!
London Dress from AW10 collection

There is also the London Design Festival from 18th - 26th September. There are over 200 events around London  and I hope to be able to check out something inspiring. Last years Chess Tournament in Trafalgar Square was very impressive to watch and I don't even know how to play chess. This year there are 8 x Audi Industrial Robots , where you can book a slot and interact with the installation tracing LED light messages in the sky. I can't wait to try that!

Windows of my soul

Super talented Emma Jeffs is having a sale on during the London Design Festival. Her delicate designs are just amazing and ethereal and truly dresses up a window. .

We have several of her designs at home which lets in plenty of light but keeps us private. It was especially important when we first moved into the suburbs. Or next- door neighbor was a a particularly nosy kind who used to complain about our blinds being drawn all the time so she couldn't see in! Well I never - so after a trawl on the internet I came across Emma Jeffs wonderful creations. Each season she has new ideas and patterns. Have a scroll to see examples of how to use them in the home. You can purchase a sample collection before committing to buy a whole roll. It was simple to do, even I managed to do a whole living room window on my own.
