Dinner a Deux

D and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary slightly earlier this year. As  I couldn’t face a meal out on actual Valentine’s Day with warring couples and over-priced menus.

In these money constraint days; an email in my In Box appeared in good time for a £28 meal deal with TopTable - 3 courses and a cocktail at Koffmann's Brasserie in Berkeley Hotel.. After having such a super memorable meal at Pierre Koffmann's pop up restaurant on Selfridges rooftops. We were really thrilled he decided to come out of retirement and open up a place in Knightbridge.

I wore my Erderm silk printed dress with Jimmy Choos heels and vintage fur coat as it was a bitterly cold evening. I actually took my snow boots to wear in the car and changed into the heels for the short walk to the Brassiere. Thank goodness for husbands to hang off from as I was skidding about in those heels – it’s been ages since I’ve worn shoes that high – this Winter has gone on too long.

What we noted - Charming friendly service, not over bearing and warmly greeted.Similar to Chez Bruce crossed with the buzzy atmosphere of The Ivy, is how D described it.

The Food (the best bit) and why we were here. Photos taken badly with my Samsung mobile.

For starters I had a light textured Pike mousse in a herb sauce (dill?) filled with mushrooms. I spent a while trying to identify the flavours

D chose Veal tongue with poached egg - I think he made the better choice as I didn't get to share much of it.

My main, Veal Kidneys on rice - before you go yuck it actually tasted and had the texture of mushrooms

D had Roasted Cod with saffrom rice

The prefect potato side dishes

Had to make space for some dessert - a selection of ice cream - pistachio (the best ever I have tasted), caramel and vanilla. Look we scoffed the lot before I got a chance to snap a photo LOL

As we were leaving (roll me out cannot move in my tight dress) the waiting staff invited us to help ourselves to a selection of chocolate and sweets in the glass jars near the bar. Chocolate covered honeycomb, homemade marshmallows etc. and helpfully gave me a personalised KB bag to put my goodies in.

We were home before Midnight and thanked the babysitter with the chocolates and sweets - thanks Bro
